This week’s been a bit off. A lot going on, hard to keep the schedule straight, but alas, I’m doing my best. Nevertheless, here’s some new developments!
Have an awesome weekend, Tanengerians.
Cheers!
Back from the brief out of townerism and back on track. I can attest to the fact that a lot of weirdness is about to take place.
Here’s to the week!
Well, I figured it was time to bring the ol’ bitch back (and I mean that in the nicest way possible, Nancy was always a sweetheart, if not a dimwitted one…) And now she’s swiftly dispatching Zombears? How does THAT work?
A “Nice try” to everyone who thought it would be the return of Caruso. All I’ll say is “Not yet,” and you can interpret that however you like.
And briefly, Happy Anniversary Goonies! (released June 7th, 1985)
Another week down. Hope everyone’s as glad Friday is here as I am. Job prospects are rounding the corner, which is awesome on a “pay my bills on time” front.
Guh, too tired to think. See everyone next week!
Cheers, folks!
Back at it. What’s this they’ve found? Was this part of Marvin’s “Failsafe Protocol”? What the hell did Doctor B bestow upon Aaron when he “donated” Marvin as Marty’s replacement? Why am I asking so many questions?
In other news, Shrek 4 wasn’t the least bit funny. The only laughs in the entire theater came from the throwaway lines from all the ad campaign trailers and TV spots. If you’re wondering why I saw Shrek 4, my radio review of it will air on Thursday in which I will have very few nice things to say.
See you all again on Friday!
Cheers, folks!
Interlude: A “Found” Farewell (did you see what I did there?)
by Wil Smith on May 24, 2010 at 2:00 amSo that was it. End of an era, so it seems. Some loved it (me,) while others hated it (CSI fans.) I can say that it was completely not what I was expecting, but that adds to the charm, in a way, a show that I’ve been watching for the better part of 5 years (fell off the wagon around season 2, like a lot of people) can still surprise me and knock me for a loop. I won’t get too specifically spoilery for anyone who either hasn’t seen it yet or those that are waiting to pioneer the series on DVD.
So that’s more or less my excuse for the late post. Lost was exhausting, along with a weekend of too much driving and no sleeping in on account of a family function, which while tiring was totally worthwhile. But yeah, “What Goes Around, Comes Around” will be back on schedule Wednesday, I just felt that I needed to shout out the farewell to one of my favorite shows of the last half decade. We’ll be lucky to see anything like it anytime soon.
Cheers, folks!
Yay for Friday comics. So it’s about that time of year again when shows start finale-ing, getting renewed and getting canceled. All my shows made it (with the exception of Lost, which is coming to an end this Sunday, which in all honesty is for the best. A show like that needs a proper ending, no need to drag it out.) Fringe beat me over the brainpan a pretty good one tonight, really excited to see where they take it next season.
That’s pretty much it for now. Tired ramblings aside, have a great weekend.
Cheers, folks!
So yeah, I’ve kind of got 2001 on the brain, but I promise this is the last of the blatant rip offs to Kubrick’s little Space Odyssey as it were. I’ve got a loose idea of where this is all heading, so hope you all enjoy it.
Clinched the 2001 reference with this one (though, the line “My God, it’s full of stars” never appeared in the movie version, it was played back in the lesser quality sequel, 2010.) What’s next? Even I don’t know. Literally.
Cheers, folks!
That does it for Artificial Idiot. Monday starts the new arc and we’ll see what fate befell our heroes Marty, Aaron and Doctor B, maybe even Marvin Tabernathy 3.2 as well.
Also, a nonsensical prize to whoever gets the mega-obscure reference in this one.
It’s late and I’m spent. Until next time…
According to my WordPress Dashboard, this is the 301st comic in the Marty Tanenger Saga.
And I’m spent.
Good night!
Today’s comic proves that I have been watching far too much Lost*. This is officially the final week of “Artificial Idiot” which will (as usual) usher in the next storyline of which a title has yet to be decided on. Also, I’ll be bringing back a couple characters we haven’t seen in quite some time, so good times there.
Any cinephiles out there reading this, do yourself a favor and check out Terry Gilliam’s latest, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Encompasses everything that you love about Gilliam’s work and showcasing the final performance by the late Heath Ledger. Good stuff, indeed.
*Not possible.
In a pinch you’ll do anything to save your own ass, I suppose.
Production Soundtrack:
Ben Folds – Effington
A – Pacific Ocean Blue
Nada Surf – Blonde on Blonde
Pete Yorn – Sense
It may not have looked like it but Marvin took a lot of damage hitting the ground. You know, after being ripped in half.
Production Soundtrack:
The Hold Steady – The Weekenders
Metric – Dead Disco
Smashing Pumpkins – Whir
Tokyo Police Club – Tessellate
Another busy week with mishandled scheduling. Thursday evening in DC at Kevin Smith’s Q&A was a blast. Lost and Fringe were awesome, respectively. I actually do have a relatively planned out “endgame” for Artificial Idiot which should play out within the next couple of weeks, tentatively.
Here’s some Musical Video-age that I’ve been rocking recently, just for kicks:
Good night, everyone!
-Wil
He’s back and this time he’s REAL (aka, not just a guy in a suit or the fanciful brainchild of Aaron’s short lived stint as Trendy West Coasties co-showrunner.) It’s a shame about Marvin, but whatever, he’s a robot. Robots are never REALLY dead, right? We’ve all seen Wall-E (spoiler alert for anyone who hasn’t seen Wall-E.) But I’m getting ahead of myself.
BTW, if you’re reading this and you haven’t become a fan on Facebook, DO IT NOW!
Cheers, folks!
Cliffhanger weekend! If you know anything about the series or me in general, you know EXACTLY what’s about to happen, but bastard that I am, you’ll just have to wait til Monday to see it for yourself (and it WILL be up on Monday, I just finished both of these installments early. I’m THAT excited.)
So the new site is completely live and up to date with all the old archive files. I have to say it was a little painful going through some of the older comics. Apparently, I hadn’t really got the hang of the whole “stream of consciousness narrative” thing down yet. I think it’s much smoother nowadays. Thanks again to everyone for all the support and kind words!
Cheers!

It’s late on a Sunday night/Monday morning. I spent all last week temping and have a new week of job hunting to look forward to until my next temp gig on the 20th. Still trying to get the backlog filled in, working backwards I’m starting on “The David Caruso Effect part Deux.” Hopefully, all will be transferred by the end of this week.
I’m officially done updating the ComicGenesis site. The moving banner and link-in is up and hopefully all unaware traffic will start migrating over. Thanks everyone for your patience and support! Let’s make Tanenger’s new home a great one.
Cheers and good evening.
The moral of this story? Never break the heart of a robot with advanced weaponry. Also as a side note, never accept a robot side-kick that you haven’t thoroughly examined from the self professed “Doctor” that lives on your block who has spent an inordinate amount of time in the not too distant future.
Still reeling from the latest episode of LOST. Yeah, I’m THAT kind of nerd. Seriously, this season is nearing mind-blowing proportions. Anywho, hopefully this temp gig and all the massive filing I’ve been doing for the past two days won’t leave my brain in shambles (and a minimum of paper-cuts on my fingers.)
So I soldier on. I know I always say this, but Artificial Idiot could be my favorite storyline so far. Both writing and drawing. Since there’s a lack of time travel (right now) it’s easier to keep a handle on everything. Emotionally tortured robots and property damage. It doesn’t get much better than that. Actually, I think I just described Terminator 2. And that movie ALSO had time travel in it. Wow, I lose.
Cheers folks!
So this will mark the first on-time update for this site. Hoo-ray, I’ve got 2 sites to maintain. CG and this will be updating simultaneously until the changeover is completely done (let’s say… in a month.) So bear with me while the page is unsightly and I try to figure out this WordPress thing.
Cheers!
So here it is. The new and (continually) improving Marty Tanenger Tales. There’s going to be a lot of work involved in the change-over from ComicGenesis, but in the end it will be worth it. CG was a good starting point, but after 3 or so years it’s time to take it out into the open if I’m going to be at all serious about MTT.
More updates to come via here and Facebook as I transfer the archive and a “launch date” will be soon on the horizon.
Cheers!
Wil
Granted, this comic is posted up on the CG assisted site, but I’m attempting to get a handle on this new locale. Enjoy the ensuing change-over!
Yeah, this one might warrant some explanation.
Remember, Doctor B stayed in the future. Marty disposed of the Flux Capacitor from Delorean A. Aaron took Delorean A to the store and inexplicably time traveled. They hit the killer with Delorean A. Aaron gets stabbed. Doctor B arrives in Delorean B and incapacitates the killer. Doctor B sends Aaron and Marty to the future in Delorean B leaving Delorean A on the side of the road in the present.
Confused yet?
Good.
